The workshop will present tools and tips for developing a unique songwriting style by exploring various approaches to song structure, melodic technique, storytelling, and lyrical styles. Happy 2024! Geraldine had a fantastic 2023 and we have some even more exciting things planned for the coming year. Here are a few of our highlights from the past 52 weeks….

💃🏻In 2023, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Dr(!!!) Jocelyn Haversat while she pursues her career in Boston and welcomed multi-instrumentalist Sarah Larsen to the band. Known primarily for her award-winning fiddle playing and reputation as a teacher/clinician, Sarah’s taking a turn on bass and vocals with Geraldine. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her with us.

🍌2023 saw the release of our second studio album "Paw Paw" with a fair bit of fan fair. Thank all of you for the help! We couldn’t do this without your support and love!

🎤Live music was happening in and around our area, with highlights including House Band appearances at BOTH Baltimore Crankie Festival and Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival. Of course, we had another throw down with our 4th annual "Geraldine Presents This Old Town" in Ellicott City, Maryland. We closed out the year with a fantastic show at Rams Head Live! with our pals The Dirty Grass Players. Giddy Up!

🎵Finally, we are extremely proud that two songs from "Paw Paw" were chosen by the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and the Common Ground on the Hill Songwriting Contest. Whoohoo!

She used the money to fly her band out to Los Angeles to record five songs with Grammy-winning producer Tyler Chester (Madison Cunningham, Margaret Glaspy, Watkins Family Hour), which proved to be a life-affirming trip.

Seattle born, Joh Chase Joh Chase, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Having toured several times nationally and regionally since 2006, Joh Chase is a seasoned veteran to the indie and grass roots music scene on the West Coast. Opening for Noah Gundersen, Aaron Sprinkle, Barcelona, David Bazan, and Robert DeLong to name a few, Joh's earlier folk/rock song writing came from their Northwest roots.

John Bolten is an avid songwriter, musician, and folk music enthusiast from West Virginia. He lead's Geraldine, who Bluegrass Country Radio has stated is "...the perfect blend of grit, drive, originality and fun – Baltimore’s Geraldine embodies all that’s good in a modern stringband." John is often referred to as a “songwriter’s songwriter”, and has played everywhere from the sidewalks of LA, to house concerts in South Carolina, to concert halls in Virginia, and Maryland. He has shared the stage with the likes of Drivin N Cryin, Jason Isbell, Tom House, and Eric Taylor, and once picked up Roland White in a rainstorm and took him to Walmart to buy a poncho. #songwriter #songwriting #folk #baltimore #americana #houseconcert
